You’ve seen me go on about the Bonne O on social media for a few days now. I am having SO MUCH fun with it. I can definitely say I did not have the same experience with my previous soda machine. The Bonne O is unique as it doesn’t use CO2 tanks and century-old technology (it uses zero solid waste carbonating pucks instead) and you can pretty well carbonate any liquid – not just water (BONUS: they are also a Canadian company – based in Toronto). I’m totally happy with sparkling lemon-infused water day in and day out… but I thought I’d fancy things up for you and I blew my own mind – Keto Ginger Ale (with pomegranate, should you desire… and it makes it oh so Christmassy!)
Infuse your water with fruit and or herbs. Make your own sparkling wine and signature cocktails – yes, DIY sparkling wine! No more $5 a cup tea pop either… this is why the Bonne O sparkles.
Heather’s Keto Ginger Ale
Makes 1 750ml Bonne O Bottle
- 1/2 cup peeled and chopped fresh ginger (you could easily go 1/4 cup, but I puffy heart ginger)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup erythritol (I use Swerve blend)
- 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
- pomegranate seeds if desired
- ice cold water (for Bonne O)
Combine the ginger, 1/2 cup of water and erythritol in a small saucepan. Bring to boil, let boil for a minute or so and then cover, remove from heat and let steep for 30 minutes. Strain and stir in the lemon juice and let cool completely before going on (chill if possible).
Hey you, it’s soda time.
Fill the Bonne O’s flavour chamber with your chilled ginger syrup and place a carbonator in the puck side. Put a few pomegranate seeds in the Bonne O bottle and fill completely to the top with ice cold filtered water (add a couple ice cubes if you want… the colder the fluid, the better it will carbonate), close it up tight and lock it into the Bonne O unit. Press the button and wait impatiently for about three and a half minutes. Walk away, or sit and watch the bouncing bubbly pomegranate seeds like I do.
Now, I know some of you might leave out the pomegranate because of the added carbs, but if you can… try it! The only thing that beats a juicy pom seed is a pom seed that is fizzy when you bite into it… swoon. If you only eat a few seeds, the carbs are pretty much nil.
