During our most recent visit to Turks and Caicos Islands, we decided to extend our stay and venture into unchartered waters… we rented a condo. We left our luxury all-inclusive selves behind and checked into The Atrium.
The Atrium is settled away from the main Grace Bay Beach resort area. It’s located in the eastern tip of Providenciales in the exclusive Leeward community. The Atrium is a condominium complex which houses many year-long residents (oh, how I envy those people) of Provo. Unowned units are furnished and rented out by the property owners. No, you do not get daily maid service (although you can purchase it for $40 a cleaning), there is no buffet waiting for you when you wake up (although there is a small cafe where you can purchase a few items, and depending on the time of year, a breakfast-included option may be available), and there is no entertainment (I’m entertaining enough, haha). What you do get is a spacious sanctuary to lay your head down in each night with all of the comforts of home – a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, dishes and small appliances, satellite TV, free wi-fi large open-concept living/dining area, washer, dryer and, in a one-bedroom suite, a full ensuite bath with soaker tub and separate shower and a powder room off the main hall. You also get free underground secured parking (with elevator), pool/hot tub access and access to Pelican Beach (an extension of Grace Bay Beach). The property is not beach-front, but it’s only a few minutes away by foot – we were too busy exploring the other beaches on the island to ever get over though. You will want to have a car if you stay at The Atrium – for getting there, for getting supplies and for exploring the island.
We found The Atrium to be a fantastic value. We paid $160 USD (off-season) a night for our ground-level 1-bedroom unit (way larger 2 and 3 bedroom units are also available). There was also a mandatory one-time $75 cleaning fee that is required to clean the unit after you leave. My only complaint about the condo itself was that the queen-sized bed was not the most comfortable.
The grounds and pool area at The Atrium are just lovely. Where we had a ground-level suite, the pool was only steps away from our patio.
How did we handle making it ‘on our own’? We loved it. Chelsea missed some of amenities of our pampered Beaches life, but enjoyed having the extra space. Would we go the condo-route again? Absolutely.
