It’s finally feeling like fall here in Nova Scotia. I’m typing this to try to unfreeze my fingers after just returning from an event at Chelsea’s school announcing provincial, municipal and PTC funding to make her schools playgrounds accessible and inclusive. Play is so important for all of our children, so the news warmed my heart although the rest of me was shivering.
I had heard about Peekaboo Beans in passing a few years ago, but didn’t actually experience them until I decided to accept a brand ambassadorship with the Canadian children’s clothing company… knowing if I didn’t like the clothing or company I would opt out.
Originally selling in retail stores across Canada, (founder) Traci Costa and her team made changes to the business model in 2010 and began to transition away from wholesale (retail boutiques) to a more unified sales force approach through the direct sales model. Wanting to have one voice, one vision, one mission – providing the ingredients for a playful life. Through an independence sales force Peekaboo Beans is able to share their message of the importance of play and provide an exceptional customer service experience for their very important beans!
Peekaboo Bean’s emphasis on the importance of play is what got me to say yes to this Ambassadorship. I’ve never once told Chelsea not to play for fear of getting dirty or messing up her clothes… if kids can’t play in their own clothes, they probably shouldn’t considered ‘kids’ clothes – which should be comfortable, safe, appropriate and durable. Peekaboo Beans has accomplished all of this, and just as important, the clothes are ethically manufactured.
Now, after only one season, I am hooked. I only wish I had looked into Peekaboo Beans when I first heard of them a couple of years ago – now Chelsea will only get to enjoy them for a few more years. Not only do I love the clothes and the company behind them, but Chelsea adores them as well. Peekaboo Beans just launched their new, improved website and more excitingly, the Winter Catalogue launches later TODAY!
I’m itching to get more ‘Beans in Chelsea’s wardrobe, and when she gets home from school we’ll be ordering her favourite pieces from the new collection. Keep an eye on my Instagram and Twitter, where Chelsea loves to show off her playful side.
