When Chelsea is sick or gets injured, it squeezes and tears at my heart in that way only a parent can understand; I will do anything within my power to make her feel better or at the very least, lift her spirits. I am thankful every single day that she is growing up healthy, with nothing that a teaspoon of pain reliever or a BandAid won’t fix (speaking of which, what is it with 6 year olds and BandAids these days? I swear they must be a status symbol or something).
If only all children were so fortunate. Over the past 30 years, the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada has granted almost 23,000 wishes to children diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
I recently spoke with Cheryl Matthews, Director of the Nova Scotia Chapter of the Children’s Wish Foundation. With the foundation for 20 years, the joy that Cheryl gets from making these children’s wishes come true is really touching. Whether it’s a family vacation at Disney World, being able to ride on a school bus, or go feed the bunnies at White Point Beach Lodge, the foundation works tirelessly to make each child’s unique wish a reality… and she remembers them all, right back to her first wish granted.
Lawtons Drugs has been a long-time supporter of Children’s Wish and this year, they have partnered up with AIR MILES (my favourite, as you know) for the Better Bonus Event. From August 6th to September 6th, 2015, for every Bonus Mile a Collector gets using their Better Bonus Event coupons, AIR MILES will match that Mile, up to 10 million Miles and donate to children’s causes nationwide.
Guess who’s stocking up on all the BandAids this month?
