Those who follow me on Twitter and Instagram (that’s all of you, I know it is, right?), have seen a number of posts with either the #CarlsCrew or the #CommitToFit hashtags. The second wave of #CarlsCrew, Subway Canada selected a group of influencers from across Canada to take on a 6 week Commit to Fit™ challenge with Carl Savard, SUBWAY Canada’s Commit to Fit Ambassador.
Each of the six weeks had a challenge all of its own:
Week 1 – Water! Carl challenged us to drink a litre more water a day than what we usually did. Since I normally drank about zero, this challenge achieved its goal of getting me hydrated (and I’m still working on more).
Week 2 – Veggies and Fruits! Carl challenged us to get more produce in our diets. Since I received a Subway gift card as part of the challenge, I had no problem eating my veggies on a daily basis.
Week 3 – Squats! Carl gave us a manageable squat challenge (10-20-30-40-50, twice a day). This got us in the habit of taking the time for movement and reiterated that fitness can happen anywhere. I’m all about that bass.
Week 4 – Sleep! Carl challenged us to get 30 minutes more of it each night. Since I sleep like a champ already, he challenged that we have no screen time in those last 30 minutes (I may have cheated on this one).
Week 5 – Food Journaling! Carl challenged us to keep a food journal for a full week… I’m still keeping mine. While I know that it works, I hate doing it… it seems so unnatural. During the week I had a conversation on Twitter which led me to a realization – I basically use Instagram as a food journal. Not every meal is Instagram-worthy though, which made me think there must be an app for that. There are, and I found one I liked called Two Grand, where I am still journalling via photos.
Week 6 – Me time! Carl challenged us to take 30 minutes of time each day to pursue things that fulfill us – in mind, body or soul. I’ve already been a big proponent of this… that’s why I started this blog as a matter of fact.
Along with being in #CarlsCrew, I have been a lot more active in Team Spark – I’ll be sharing more on that in a future post. Since the start of my #CommitToFit challenge, I have lost 10 pounds and have gotten so many of my healthy habits back! This wasn’t a case of a bunch of bloggers sitting around eating bonbons while tweeting about living healthy – I talked the talk AND I walked the walk.
I have one final $25 Subway Canada gift card to giveaway, and instead of running a tweet contest, I decided to put it here for those of you who might not be on (the) Twitter. To enter, complete the form below and good luck!
