Last year while I was contributing to the AIR MILES blog, I showed that when it comes to making the most out of my favourite loyalty program, I knew my stuff. It’s a good thing though, because now with new AIR MILES Cash eVouchers, I’ll want to maximize my reward miles balance.
Just released last month, eVouchers are the newest way to use your AIR MILES Cash balance. While you can still redeem instantly at Sponsors such as Shell, Sobeys and Rona, you can also now get eVouchers sent directly to you (same day, pretty well instantly) for new participating Reward Partners such as Cineplex, Kernels Extraordinary Popcorn, Starbucks and even iTunes! I used to buy Starbucks gift cards from my AIR MILES balance back in my single days and think I might get back into that habit from time to time now that it is so simple (not to mention my love affair with caffeine).
To try out the new feature, we used some of our AIR MILES reward miles to have a family night out at Cineplex and enjoyed Rio 2. Getting our eVoucher was quick and easy:
I went to AIRMILES.ca, selected Redeem Miles and chose AIR MILES Cash. I then picked how much I wanted the eVoucher to be for and entered my email address. You are also able to send eVouchers to others as a gift which is a super last-minute option.
Within a couple of minutes, I received this email…
When I click on redeem now, it took me to this (except it said $50 – pretty good estimate, eh? $.24 left! For the Cineplex eVouchers $10 = 95 AIR MILES)…
You can either print off this card, or just use it on your smartphone. With an iPhone, you can save it to your Passbook (I am really starting to love that feature). At the bottom of the page, there is a code that they will scan at Cineplex, just like any other gift card. The nice guy working the concession stand gave me a great tip… if you put your brightness up to the highest setting when using scannable cards from your phone, there is less chance of failure. Even if they do fail, there is a code on the card that can be manually entered… no worries.
The eVoucher denomination options available can vary a bit from partner to partner, so just make sure you read the email that is sent to you (you should probably always do that anyway, hehe).
We really enjoyed our family night out at the movies and loved even more that it didn’t cost us a penny and that we didn’t have to plan weeks in advance to get paper vouchers in the mail like ‘the old days’.
Have you tried the new AIR MILES eVoucher feature yet? To get one lucky Canadian reader rolling, I have 760 AIR MILES reward miles ($80 Value when you put those reward miles in your AIR MILES Cash balance) to give away. To enter, please complete the electronic form below and good luck!
