I just turned 39 and I have never, ever been to a water park or even on a water slide for that matter. Life is meant to be lived though, so when we were invited to be the guests of Magic Mountain in Moncton for the day, I jumped at the opportunity and a funtastic time was had by all.
Here are my top 5 reasons why you should visit Magic Mountain this summer:
Reason #1 – It’s in Moncton.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Halifax good enough, but Moncton rocks. Really. There are so many fun family activities there I think it would be impossible to get bored. Also, in 2008, Moncton was voted Canada’s Most Courteous city by Reader’s Digest, and come to think of it, I don’t think we’ve come across bad service anywhere there… and the staff at Magic Mountain were no exception – everyone we interacted with was very helpful and polite.
Reason #2 – Water Slides for Everyone.
Whether you are brave enough to ride the Kamikazi or the Torpedo Drop Capsule, or prefer the more tame slides like the Sidewinder, there are options for everyone. Hubs took a trip down and had a blast… Me? Well I’ll tell you more about that in a bit.
Reason #3 – Lots of Options for Kiddos / Water Slide Challenged.
I initially wasn’t sure if there would be enough at Magic Mountain to keep the smaller kids entertained for a full day. I had nothing at all to worry about. Even though the two of them were tall enough to ride some of the bigger slides, neither of them wanted to and I was okay with that. Between the Whirlpool (a favourite of my cold-blooded spawn), the Wave Pool, the Kiddy Pool (complete with four kiddy slides, one of which I am both proud and embarrassed to say, was my first ever water slide and I LOVED it), the Splash Pad and the Lazy River we stayed busy all day long. Also, since I picked probably the worst day of the summer weather-wise to visit, there were never line-up or crowds… in the end, I think that was a good thing. Magic Mountain is open rain or shine, and according to the website only closes for thunder/lightening and tropical storms… luckily the weather wasn’t that bad.
Reason #4 – Lots of Great Snacks.
Since we were coming from out-of-town, we bought all of our meals and snacks on-site (if you are local, you are more than welcome to bring picnic food, but can’t grill or anything). For lunch we had regular park fare, hot dogs, poutine, onion rings and sodas, everything was tasty, especially the onion rings! There is a Beavertails smack dab in the middle of the park, so we couldn’t resist a warm, sweet late afternoon treat. Right before we left, I gave in to the girl’s request for Mini Melts, something I had never seen before – they were yummy and had the unique factor for sure. There was also some fine looking pizza on-site, but I can only snack so much.
Reason #5 – This:
If you are in Moncton, or can get there this summer, I have an extra Family Pass for 4 to Magic Mountain to give away to one lucky reader. This one will be a quickie, I will randomly pick a winner on August 7, 2013 and will then be mailing the pass out via Canada Post (unless you are in Halifax). To enter, just leave me a comment below letting me know that you can get to Moncton & Magic Mountain this summer and what attraction you look forward to most.
Good luck/Bonne chance! Congrats Christopher!
